This video shows numerous examples of McCain's double-talk express. He often says one thing, then exactly the opposite -- sometimes just minutes later. His beliefs are based on pleasing special interest groups. How can you ever believe where he stands, on any of the major issues facing us today?

John McCain has more integrity, character, and courage in just one fingernail than every other active U.S. politician combined. It is not only possible, to take any politician and splice their recorded video in a way that makes the politician look bad, it is actually rather easy. It is especially easy when using most politicians working in the U.S. political arena today.

There are some issues on which I disagree with Senator McCain (i.e. his gay-marriage and abortion stance to name a two), but I know for a fact that he requires his staff to pick him up with their own cars and never with a rented towncar or limo. He doesn't believe in wasting U.S. taxpayer money on such unimportant job privileges. This is a small gesture on his part, but I personally find this subtle act of character and integrity quite refreshing.

Oh and let us not forget the five years he spent in a Vietnamese POW camp. Being the son and grandson of U.S. Admirals, Senator McCain was given the opportunity to promptly and safely go home, way before the time he actually left the camp. McCain did not want to leave behind his fellow captured soldiers, however, which was significant because those same U.S. soldiers were giving up vital information in exchange for better treatment inside the camp. Unlike the other U.S. prisoners, McCain never budged and has the scars and permanently crippled arm as clear proof. Considering these facts, it is almost offensive to hear people speak of John McCain with such loose and irresponsibly misleading slander.

John McCain has integrity, if you consider integrity the same thing as bullshit. He has character, if you consider character kissing ass and pandering. John McCain is a fraud, and a coward. Who cares that he was a POW anymore? How long can he milk that? McCain needs to be "Swift Boated" ... it wouldn't be hard.

He's not contradicting himself. He's against gay marriage if by "marriage" you mean the current legal institution. But if by "marriage" you mean two people performing some kind of ritual in which they commit to each other, he doesn't have any problem with that.

For the record, I couldn't care less about McCain or any Washington politician. They're all liars, they HAVE to be liars in order to survive. The only honest public figures are the dictators, since they don't give a crap about public opinion, and we don't want that kind of public figures here now, don't we?

About Cliff Schecter

Cliff Schecter Cliff Schecter is a veteran campaign strategist and political commentator. Schecter is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and was a guest columnist for United Press International from 2002-2004. His work has been featured in a variety of publications including The Miami Herald, The American Prospect, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Fordham Urban Law Journal, The Washington Monthly and Salon.com. He blogs at cliffschecter.com and writes a weekly satirical column each Friday called "Cliff's Corner," summarizing the week's most ridiculous events, for AMERICAblog. Surprisingly, Tom DeLay gets mentioned a lot.

During the 2004 election cycle, Schecter worked as the "liberal" pundit for The Sinclair Broadcast Group, where he debated conservative Armstrong Williams -- for significantly less cost to the White House. He has also appeared on CNN, CNBC, NPR FoxNews and the Canadian Broadcast Channel. Recently, Schecter has been a regular contributor to MSNBC, where his debates against Republicans have become some of the most popular videos on YouTube, garnering as many as 125,000 viewings. Additionally, Schecter has provided analysis on American politics for international diplomats, journalists, students and politicians as part of The State Department Bureau of International Information Programs.

Schecter, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, holds an MA in International Affairs from the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs and is receiving his Ph.D. in American History as a Dean's Honors Fellow at American University.

Schecter was a pollster for the successful reelection of President Bill Clinton in 1996 and fundraiser for former Governor of Virginia Mark Warner in 2001. He has also provided initial opposition research for the Ned Lamont campaign's unprecedented victory over sitting senator Joe Lieberman in the 2006 primary race in Connecticut, and has consulted for the DNC, DCCC and candidates he won't mention here because they lost.
