Escalation
Posted on January 16th, 2007 by jessehaff -

John McCain has done more than just embrace George Bush’s policy in Iraq, it’s actually his idea to escalate the war there. It’s John McCain’s idea to send tens of thousands more soldiers to Iraq and to keep them there with no timeline for bringing them home.

Iraq? the grand total for America's
    no-draft 'sacrifice' isn't even close
to the number of those still missing
in action from our 2 years defending
    South Korea.

Are we even at war? REALLY?

    Americans and their comfort zone
    'me-think' mouth-think.

    Too much.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the
money I earn than I would.

I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what
they're doing because they now think we're good people.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN
tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for
themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe three or four pointy headed elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don't have to hide from us over there when they come over here I don't want to have any guns in the house to fight them off with.

I'm voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my horse.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are
obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

Makes ya wonder why anyone would EVER vote Republican, now doesn't it?

    Reality check.

In the entire U.S. 'War' in Iraq -what? -3000
U.S. dead. The Iraqis dead are being killed
    -almost entirely -by other Iraquis.

Now, the homicidal/suicidal component of these
    sectarian -black-light poster -Momma's boy
    -nut bags aside---

Every year,in China, 40,000 are killed in state
State-sponsored medical cannabalism. The organ market folks. A single, prime condition human
heart fetches 250,ooo dollars on the black market.

Not a word from Hollywood! -or Europe's deadbeat consciousness scene. $$$trange -wouldn't you say?

Of course, many of these organs -esp. those kidneys and livers -are going to keep
    a lot of these drug-addled 60's and 70's
narcissists alive --in places like Malibu!

I'm sure Castro has availed himself. From a rich family. One of the richest men in the world right now.

War is hell. And peace is hell too.

Maybe even a worse hell afterall?

This about sums it up; John McCain--is, in virtually every important respect, a completely typical Republican presidential candidate. He relies upon character mythology far more than substantive positions on issues to sustain his appeal. He endlessly claims to uphold personal values that he has chronically violated in reality--including his vaunted apolitical, truth-telling independence; his devotion to "traditional family values"; his Regular Guy credentials; his supposed hostility to the prerogatives of the elite; his honor-bound integrity; and his commitment to limited government and individual liberty. One finds, in McCain's actual life, rather than in his rhetoric and media-sustained mythology, one act after the next that directly violates each of these relentlessly touted principles, and in that regard, he is a standard, run-of-the-mill Republican hypocrite.

    Hillary and Obama extreme liberal.
    Only in the USA...
Anywhere else they are still corporate puppets.
Anywhere else, the US election isn´t viewed as an election, but as a circus.
C´m ON let´s face it: only in the US can W be appointed president, THEN get RE-ELECTED?!?! and THEN this McWayne can have a chance.
The ´murcins simply get what they deserve. Too bad they also rule the planet (poor rest-of-us).

John McCain is the real deal. He has support from the middle, the independents. No one has ever won with just support from the far left or the far right. John will get the conservatives sooner or later because they won't vote for a extreme liberal like Obama/Hillary. The middle and Indep will go to McCain... Obama will go down as nothing more than a great speaker...

Don't let the corporate MSM fool you! They are completely ignoring Ron Paul, but he is still in the running. Just think of it! A REAL president---one with PRINCIPLES!

McCain represents all of the failed policies of the past four years by Bush and his allies! It is not just the War in Iraq but the War here at home against the Middle Class that has made America a Great Country. Visit my Web Site, RepublicansAgainstBush.info to review the past seven years that McCain now supports!

McCain would be the biggest mistake since the bush/cheney mistake. He is an old dope. He cannot even keep Iran and Iraq straight-why? Because he does not understand foreign relations. How would he ever put a cabinet together and lead the free world? I cannot wait to see Barrack Obama tear him up in debates!

    John McCain,

Isn't intelligent, Isn't a war hero, Will not represent the best interests for America, or it's people.

The War hero one gets me the most. He gets shot down over Hanoi in his crappy A-4 Skyhawk, and gets tortured in a POW camp.

Lets talk some real war heroes.

James H. Doolittle - Led the first retaliatory attack on Japan in 1942 with B-25s. A few of the guys that were in his squadron were captured and executed by the Japanese.

Paul W. Tibbets - Piloted the B-29 that dropped the first A-Bomb on Japan, and helped bring WWII to and end.

    Some lesser known WWII figures

Butch O'Hare Went on a night mission of no return to protect the USS Enterprise, and it's fleet from Japanese air attack. Perished when a Japanese bomber shot him down

Richard Ira Bong - Shot down more Japanese Aircraft than any other American ACE of WWII in his P-38.

Most war heroes are dead becaused the sacrificed their lives in defense of the USA.

I just hope they never name a ship after McCain, like they did a aircraft carrier for the first G. HW. Bush. Maybe they'll name a rubbish ship after G.W.

John McCain is nothing but a war monger. Anyone who supports him and votes for him is voting to continue the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and voting to authorize this corrupt government of ours to also invade other countries-Iran will be next. McCain is just about as smart as Bush/Cheney too. He knows nothing but the military. Generations in his family have been military men. He is a warrior. Committing war on other nations is the most uncreative way to handle conflict. He does not have the skills to deal with our economy or foreign relations. Having been held captive in the jungles of Viet Nam does not qualify you to be president of the USA. All of you repugs who will once again vote your party, regardless of the empty suit on the ticket should be spat on. You are the reason this country of ours is in a shit hole. You neocon born-again repug creeps sicken me. There ought to be a test to qualify people to vote. If there was, you certainly would not pass.

NO ONE!!! lol No wonder the democrat party struggles, its got wacky lefties in it.. The independents will continue to stay away and Obama will lose.

Yea McCain is great and is responsable for the surge and its working just look at the latest tallys....

LONDON (Reuters) - More than one million Iraqis have died as a result of the conflict in their country since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to research conducted by one of Britain's leading polling groups.

The survey, conducted by Opinion Research Business (ORB) with 2,414 adults in face-to-face interviews, found that 20 percent of people had had at least one death in their household as a result of the conflict, rather than natural causes.

The last complete census in Iraq conducted in 1997 found 4.05 million households in the country, a figure ORB used to calculate that approximately 1.03 million people had died as a result of the war, the researchers found.

The margin of error in the survey, conducted in August and September 2007, was 1.7 percent, giving a range of deaths of 946,258 to 1.12 million.

ORB originally found that 1.2 million people had died, but decided to go back and conduct more research in rural areas to make the survey as comprehensive as possible and then came up with the revised figure.

The research covered 15 of Iraq's 18 provinces. Those that not covered included two of Iraq's more volatile regions -- Kerbala and Anbar -- and the northern province of Arbil, where local authorities refused them a permit to work.

Estimates of deaths in Iraq have been highly controversial in the past.

Medical journal The Lancet published a peer-reviewed report in 2004 stating that there had been 100,000 more deaths than would normally be expected since the March 2003 invasion, kicking off a storm of protest.

The widely watched Web site Iraq Body Count currently estimates that between 80,699 and 88,126 people have died in the conflict, although its methodology and figures have also been questioned by U.S. authorities and others.

ORB, a non-government-funded group founded in 1994, conducts research for the private, public and voluntary sectors.

The director of the group, Allan Hyde, said it had no objective other than to record as accurately as possible the number of deaths among the Iraqi population as a result of the invasion and ensuing conflict.

Some one I care for just told me that John McCain is a Democrat at heart! HUH?!

Apparently, there are still well meaning people in this country who equate McCain with heroism; not I.

His voting record speaks volumes but, if looking that up is too much trouble, one need only remember the 2000 primary races; and, what the Bushies did in South Carolina.

McCain was on his way to earning, against all odds, the nomination of the GOP; then Rove sharpened his knives and went to work on McCain in a way that has won, for the Republicans, Dixie for decades.

When implying that McCain was off his rocker, due to what he endured in the Hanoi Hilton, did not win support for Bush, Jr. and making his wife out to be a drug fiend didn't work either; they preyed on the race hate which is always, like fascism, always bubbling beneath the service, and worked their filthy lies!

Right wing operatives decided to use an innocent child, and it work big time, the little girl the McCains adopted from Bangladesh, a child of color, must be John McCain's "bastard"! These dirty tricks would make Nixon blanch; McCain was the favorite going in. Unfortunately, race prejudice would not be denied; and, Bush took South Carolina, and that was the end of the "straight talk express"!

Obviously, McCain saw his wife, his child, and his own reputation as collateral damage; embraced Bush (literally) and pranced all over the country in support of this thug, like a great big pander bear. And, that is the measure of John McCain's courage; it was sickening and still is and when one considers the horror this cur has inflicted on us and innocent people in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, we in part can, thank JOHN McCAIN!

It seems that the :McCain Plan to Escalate" was a pretty good plan now, doesn't it. John McCain teamed with George Bush not because he liked him, but because of his respect for the presidency and the necessity to be successful in Iraq. Yes the surge was his idea from the start! People are backing off referring to it as McCain's surge now because it's working and doesn't fit in with their agenda in supporting other candidates. I respect him for being able to rise above the people in politics for American accomplishments.
    • ^
    • v
Wait a sec, I thought the escalation was originally John Kerry's idea! I agree totally with most of your characterizations of McCain, so don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him. It's just that it sure is sad to see the MoveOn.org crew become shills for the Democrats, instead of non-partisan progressive campaigners. We need a real political alternative in this country, not more of the same. Pelosi could end the war and occupation in Iraq and impeach Bush right now, but the Dems are controlled by the same corporations as the Republicans. It really is interesting that you have taken to using the right's playbook from their anti-Kerry campaign, and turned it against McCain. Kinda proves my point, that both Democrats and Republicans are susceptible to such characterization because neither one has any principles ... except the rare bird like Cynthia McKinney, who will be promptly driven from office through the connivance of her own party's leadership. A pox on both their houses.
